FCC Fees
FCC Fee Structure - Effective 4/19/2022
On April 19, 2022, the FCC began imposing fees for certain applications and modifications.
The fee structure is:
New Application (Technician) $35.00
License Upgrades No Fee
Renewals $35.00
Vanity Call $35.00
There is no fee for Administrative Updates which include name change, address change or email changes.
The fee must be paid within 10 calendar days of email notification from the FCC. The FCC will notify the applicant when they assign a file number to the application. This normally occurs shortly after the VEC submits a batch file during weekdays.
If the payment is not made within 10 days, the application is dismissed and the applicant must re-file the application. The applicant has 365 days from the issuance of the CSCE or until the FCC makes a final disposition on the application to re-file if the application is dismissed. The payment must be made through the CORES system and only credit cards are accepted.
There are two CORES systems, the legacy system and the new CORES system. The payment is made through the new CORES system. Hams who are in the legacy CORES system will have to register in the new CORES system.
The FCC is encouraging all hams to create a new account by registering in the new CORES system as the legacy system will be decommissioned at some point (no date has been set). The URL for the new CORES system is https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/
You can differentiate between the new system and the legacy as the legacy system will require you to use your FRN as a login and the new CORES system requires your email address to login.
More information can be found at https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/html/ULS Pay Fees.htm and https://www.fcc.gov/personal-service-and-amateur-application-fees.
Any questions should be forwarded to the FCC at fccinfo@fcc.gov or by calling or 1-888-225-5322.
Please do not submit questions regarding the new FCC fees to the MRAC VEC.
